Top 5 most durable men’s watches

Watches are something that can really finish off an outfit. They are practical, professional and give you a polished look that no other accessory can provide. With all of the smartwatches around a lot of people have wondered whether there is still a place for a normal analog watch still. We think there absolutely is. A good, durable analog watch is something that is timeless. With smartwatches the software will inevitably get outdated in a couple years. And let’s be honest, smartwatches generally don’t look as slick as a well-designed analog watch.

We put together out list of our top 5 most durable men’s watches due to popular demand. A lot of readers are wondering what makes a durable watch and which brands can be trusted to hold up well for years to come. We consider each of the watches in this list to be buy it for life (BIFL) quality. We took into account the materials used, the powering mechanism, and what kind of warranty or support the company gives after sale. For example, we love the Citizen Eco Drive line of watches because there are not batteries to replace over time. They grab all of their energy directly from sun and other light. But mostly our recommendations come from users that have had similar watches for decades… This doesn’t mean that each of these is uber expensive either. They’re not $20 watches, but they sure do break the bank either.

So without further ado, here are what we consider to be the top 5 most durable men’s watches on the market.

Citizen Eco-Drive Nighthawk Stainless Steel Watch

If you want a touch of stealth bomber on your wrist look no further than the Nighthawk. Citizen has knocked it out of the park with the look of this black stainless steel watch. And the best part is it contains Citizen’s exceptional Eco-Drive technology that powers the watch through both sunlight and even artificial light. And the features aren’t lacking either. It has a full 3 piece chronograph, a tachymeter and precision Japanese-made quartz movement. It is also water resistant to up to 660 feet for those of you fond of swimming or wet weather. Overall, this is one of my favorite durable watches this year. As always, this has the great 5 year Citizen warranty.

Citizen Eco-Drive Calibre 8700 Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch

If you want all of the great innards of a Citizen watch and the convenience of the Eco-Drive power, but you have a bit smaller wrist or just don’t like black, check the Citizen Calibre out. It adds a really nice perpetual calendar function around the outside edge which is awesome. It is water resistant to up to 330 feet and features a great shiny stainless steel casing. Not to mention the great 5 year Citizen warranty which is one of the best around for this price-point.

Tissot Quickster Blue Watch

Tissot has always been one of our favorite watch manufacturers. They have just that extra level of quality from other manufacturers and has hundreds of years of watch-making experience. With the Quickster, Tissot includes only the necessities. A chronograph, date and tachymeter round out an excellently laid out design. The blue face gives an extra level of interest to the design as well. But the important thing here is that this watch is super durable. With a Swiss quartz movement and water resistance to up to 100 meters, this is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a durable men’s watch with some fashion appeal.

Timex Expedition Field Chronograph Watch

Yes, we know…  Timex?  Really?  Really. The Timex Expedition has shown time and time again that it is one of the most durable watches on the market. Featuring 330 feet of water resistance, a chronograph and Timex’s Indiglo light up face, the Epedition is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts on a budget. This thing is inexpensive! But check online for reviews and you will see a lot of people that have had this watch for a very long time without any repairs necessary.

Seiko Monster Automatic Watch

This one is right up there with my favorite watches of the past 5 years. The Seiko Monster is technically considered a dive watch, so it is water resistant up to 200 meters! It’s a chunkier design than the others on this list but still manages to look refined and stylish. This watch uses Seiko’s automatic powering technology which is similar to Citizen’s Eco-Drive in that it charges through exposure to light. It has the Seiko LumiBrite luminescent technology to light up the watch components in the dark. But overall, the Seiko Monster is known for being incredibly durable and tough to damage. If you’re an outdoorsman this is a great option. Or if you’re like me and you’re clumsy, this is a watch that will continue on for years and years under a beating.

Top 5 most durable men’s watches rundown

  1. Not a single Casio G-Shock on this list. G-Shock’s are found on 90% of all wrists working in an industrial environment in my personal experience. They’re inexpensive and take a tremendous beating.
Another issue: 4 out of 5 of your listed watches are over $300. It seems the writer of this article just flipped through some cool looking watches on Amazon that he/she could afford and slapped them on this page.
